A "COWARDLY and callous" gang of girls attacked and robbed a 20-year-old as she walked in Normanton.
The victim and her friend were followed by the group as they were making their way home, walking up Normanton Road.

POLICE are investigating a number of separate burglaries in Derby on the same day.
One saw a house in Osmaston Park Road targeted between 11.30am and 7.30pm on Tuesday.
The offender kicked through a panel on a rear door and searched inside.
Items taken include two laptops and an iPad.

Illicit cigarettes seized in raids on shops in Normanton and Pear...
RAIDS on shops in Derby have uncovered "a substantial amount" of illicit cigarettes.
Bottles of counterfeit booze were also seized after police, trading standards and HM Revenue and Customs swooped on the stores.

DERBYSHIRE police are urging motorists to remain vigilant following reports of bogus parking fines.
Fraudsters are contacting victims by e-mail claiming that they have to pay a parking fine when they have not been in the area at the time of the incident.

Council leader Paul Bayliss wants fewer betting shops in Derby
MORE needs to be done to halt the growing number of betting shops in Derby, according to the leader of the city council.
Labour's Paul Bayliss also said he also wants to see less high-stakes gambling machines inside the stores.
His call for action follows the approval of another betting shop – this time along Normanton Road, in Normanton, where there are already two such premises.

Cyclist tried to grab walker's phone in Osmaston Road, Derby
A CYCLIST tried to grab a young woman's phone as she walked along a Derby street.
Police said the cyclist rode up to the 21-year-old victim in Osmaston Road at about 9.45pm on Tuesday.
The cyclist tried to grab her phone but pedalled off empty-handed after she began shouting for help.
A police spokesman said several people approached to help before the would-be thief cycled away.

More than 200 Derby parents fined for parking outside schools
MORE than 200 motorists have been handed £70 fines for parking outside Derby schools.
They were caught in the act by a patrolling car rigged with up with CCTV camera kit.
A campaign was launched in November to crackdown on people parking on "keep clear" markings at schools in the city.
Now new figures released by Derby City Council reveal a total of 217 motorists have been fined.

Ten-fold increase in scarlet fever cases in Derby
A TEN-FOLD increase in scarlet fever has been found across Derby in the last 11 weeks.
Twenty nine incidents were found in the city compared to three in 2013.
Derbyshire saw a four-fold increase in the numbers of scarlet fever from 29 last year to 117 this year.
Across the East Midlands 350 cases were discovered compared with 75 in the first two-and-a-half months of 2013.
