A LONE police officer has been described as "heroic" after standing in a busy Derby road to direct traffic when the lights failed.
Neighbour Jim Perry said PC Christopher Taylor proved himself an unsung hero by positioning himself in the middle of the junction of Manor Road and Uttoxeter New Road.
Traffic was heavily delayed because of the traffic-light failure, which happened at about 7.10pm, but PC Taylor continued to co-ordinate drivers alone until they were fixed at about 8pm....
