Blue plaque will honour three pioneers of city's Silk Mill

THREE famous Derbeians will be celebrated on Monday as the city launches its blue plaque scheme to recognise important historic figures.As a tribute to Derby's position as the cradle of the industrial revolution, the inaugural plaque will pay homage to the Lombe brothers John and Thomas, who built the Silk Mill, the world's first factory.It will also remember George Sorocold, an engineer who, among many other achievements, provided the engineering scheme for the Silk Mill and installed Derby...
