A SUSPECTED mortar round has been detonated in a controlled explosion by a bomb disposal squad in Matlock.
The device was found by workmen at 11.50am this morning during resurfacing of a car park on Cavendish Road.
A small number of houses were evacuated.
A 100 metre cordon was put in place and bomb disposal experts have just destroyed the mortar round.
